China Doesn't Want the U.S. to Have Golden Dome
Air and Missile Defense gets a boost with the appointment of Gen Guetlein to lead the effort
Good morning,
President Trump has set the Golden Dome in motion, answering one of the most important questions around the initiative: ‘who is going to lead it?” Trump announced yesterday that the Space Force’s Vice Chief of Space Operations General Michael Guetlein will be take the helm.
This announcement was timely as more and more pundits were calling for a unitary head to ensure unity of effort.
Trump has also announced some VERY aspirational goals saying that he believed the entire project would cost $175B and that it would be completed before the end of his term. We’ve talked ad nauseum about the price tag. We think that’s about 20x below what it will really cost to achieve comprehensive air and missile defense for America. But if we descope the Golden Dome to be Brilliant Pebbles Lite then maybe we can get a partial solution at that cost with a prototype launched.
