Elon Musk just pulled off the boldest AI maneuver of the year—and no one’s calling it what it is.

He used xAI’s frothy valuation to bail himself out of the Twitter (X) disaster—without spending a dime.

In a headline-grabbing all-stock deal, Musk’s AI company xAI “acquired” X (formerly Twitter) for $45 billion. On the surface, it looks like a power move—consolidating AI infrastructure with a massive social platform. But dig one layer deeper, and it’s clear what’s actually happening: Musk took a flailing, debt-ridden social media platform he bought for $44B in 2022 and shuffled it into xAI at a similar valuation, masking the losses under a new narrative.
